Just a Collection of Random Musings

March 29th, 2012

I really REALLY want to post something. Like REALLY badly. For several weeks now. So I’m just going to type and we’ll see what happens.

This year, Spring Break was possibly the BEST spring break ever. Maybe because when I was in HS and before it was Mama who choose when we took spring break… Or it could quite possibly be the two days we spent at the beach (one of which the BF got to come down for…. *happy dance*) And then there’s the part where I’ve been away from home for a while and got to spend a week at home with my amazing family. But really, I think the beach trip took the cake. (not that that’s hard to do with me since I’ve realized that I don’t really like cake…)

BTW, in case you’re wondering, Spanish is WAY easier with a professor. I’m hoping this holds true with math too since I’m going to try and take a course next fall. Oh boy.

Hunger Games was fantabulous. (ohmygosh, spellchecker is telling me that’s a real word. O.o) It was so real seeming to and the horrid style of videography that I hated in the Bourne movies cause it was so distraction, well, it was actually pretty awesome in the Hunger Games. I’m sort of wondering if the screen size affects that at all. Anyways, I loved the movie and the only part I noticed missing that I actually went “awww that wasn’t in the movie!” was the part where District 11 send Katniss the bread right after Rue dies. That and the part whre Haymitch has to send her sleeping medicine or whatever so that she can leave Peeta. But I forgot that part until Mama mentioned it, so really only the bread. Rue was adorable by the way. Much better than I could have imagined her really, she has such a sweet face. :) One thing I really like that they sort of changed was the fact that they included the reactions of people in District 12 (Like Katniss’s mother and sister and Gale.) and then in other places as well (like the revolt in District 11) that happened at the same time but you don’t find out about until book 2 or 3 since it’s written from Katniss’s perspective.

Ooooo! I just found out that GG5 is waiting for me at the library! Super excited (I’ll just have to find a time to go pick it up now…) I’ve been dying to know what happens to Cammie. Especially since Ally Carter posted those shorts in the pov of the othe characters. Very stoked!

I have reestablished that I am horrible at painting. Luckily as a BA and not a BFA student I can avoid taking an actual Painting class. I also discovered today that it takes a lot of guidance for me to draw abstractly. How ironic is that?

Another thing I’ve learned, apparently homeschoolers are the only people who have heard of cleps. O.o Okay, so not entirely true, I have said the word to a few public schoolers who knew what I was talking about. But still.

On a sad note, I should probably mention that my precious kitty is gone. :( Sammy went MIA a month or so ago and hasn’t turned back up. We can only assume he’s dead. :’( Speaking of which, one should never EVER text one’s sibling who is in college and tell her that her beloved cat is dead. Leave that news breaking in the gentle hands of the parents. Trust me. Also, the best place to find out about said beloved cat’s passing is at the BF’s house. That way you can totally cry and have someone actually comfort you. Because let’s face it, my friends aren’t exactly used to me breaking down into tears like that. (well, there was the time that there was a tornado and I got upset and started sobbing… or the time I was crying and screaming at my computer…)

Also, Zeke doesn’t know his own name. Or that he’s supposed to let my and lil sis hug him to death. Or that he’s supposed to come beg for belly rubs when I’m hanging up laundry or curl up around my head when I lie down or try to chew the corners of my books or… well I guess I’m going to have to face the reality that he isn’t Samson…

I finally finished The Help over Spring Break! It was amazing, Definitely better than the movie, though the movie is totally worth the time as well.

Sarah’s Key, which is a book that Mama and I read in Europe makes a pretty good movie. It was also the first foreign film I’ve seen. Or at least seen and known that it was a foreign film…

That’s about all I can think of so I guess I’ll wrap it up with this: In case you wondered, all skeletons are nude. And gender un-specific… unless you’re Dr. Brennan that is…

THe Best Camping Trip Ever

July 3rd, 2011

So. In case you’ve missed it, my family goes to the Smoky Mountains every year. And well, we just got back. While I thoroughly enjoy  this trip every time we go, this was definitely one of the best camping trips we’ve ever had. Why? Well for starters, Maryanna cam with us. Also, I GOT TO SEE MY COUSINS!!!!!!! Woohoo!!!!!! (Wendy….) And we had a blast! Most of our time was spent either tubing down the river or swimming in the pool. But we also: Played a very disturbing few games of Apples to Apples, went on our traditional trip to Cades Cove, and put on an Alice in WOnderland skit. And some other stuff. I’d share picture here, but as you know, I can’t currently upload pictures to my blog. So instead I will direct those of you who stalk me in various ways on Facebook to the albums you will find there. THere are also pictures of me, Maryanna, Cushion, and Cushion’s friend (who has no nick at the moment) in sundresses in the river. Oh, and Diva too. That, let me tell you, was seriously fun. Oh and then there was the store Cushion and Mama and I went to that was so cool. It had a lot of artwork and stuff mostly, but also some trinkets and t-shirts (and hillbilly hats). And then there were the idiots of course. Who decided that it wasn’t enough to just see a bear, they wanted to touch it. Or something. Honestly we all thought we were about to witness a bear mauling. Bt alas, the park ranger stopped them. Oh! And then we went into a house where the ceiling was totally low enough for Maryanna and me to touch. lol. And of course we had to show her our favorite building, the grist mill, which was running. Yay! And we made Indy (and Jedi too) eat Bacon and Cheese Crickets. And then we did a lot of being over all stupid the way four teenage girls will do. But of course, that’s the best part you know. And I added a member to my teddy bear family. He’s a black bear with a sweater that say the Smoky Mountains and his name is River (he still is in need of a middle name though) and I’ll try and get a pic up soon, but as of yet there isn’t one even on FB. Anywho, that’s all about our trip I can think of right now. Other than the fact that I will hopefully be able to share the music video I made with yall. I had to set up a youtube account though, cause FB wouldn’t let me post it. Something about copyright infringement. (but youtube will normally let you post if you say something about not owning the music) So yeah, that’s all for now.

AGH! My Pictures are Gone!

April 12th, 2011

Mmhm. I opened the most trusty folder on the computer, the one that holds my pictures. Imagine my horrified expression when I disconvered every single file gone, Mysteriously.

Oh I know, files don’t just disappear. This did not ease my mind Because that means someone had to delete them.

So I tell Daddy. He commandeers the computer and begins to search. While I watch anxiously. IT looks more and more hopeless. Oh we stumble across a small handful of pictures that had been moved for various projects. But this only makes me realize the magnitude of what is lost. EVERYTHING. Essentially my life, in photos. (Not to mention the beginnings of what I plan to do with my life) Yeah I’m panicking. And crying, there was some crying going on.

And then. We find a file that was never used for a project. It’s from Jedi and Ninja’s last birthday party. And it’s in a folder marked “Bwahahahaha” and another called “Punk” and then, hey! the folder’s its SUPPOSED to be in. Turns out Jedi had decided he wanted private access to the pictures. and moved them. But he didn’t mean to move ALL of them, certainly not completely, he only meant to move his and even then just to copy them. Yeah. So he didn’t do on purpose (even though the folder headings speak otherwise. He also had some marked “secret plans” hmmmmm) so I guess I have to forgive. But if he ever touchs my pictures again I will kill him.

So not exactly the most stress-free situation for a photographer. But Daddy came and was my superhero. So its good. Though I’m still half inclined to throttle Jedi.

Tales From 4-h State

August 8th, 2010

Ok, so Last week at this time I was at a State Council meeting. In the uber-cool we-are-about-to-plot-a-world-takeover conference room. With really awesome chairs. Last week the Council did NOT plot a world takeover. Instead we plotted out super-secret-I-can’t-tell-you-because-my-brother-reads-this-blog Midwinter theme. It was SO much fun and I promise I’ll tell you what it is in December when we are allowed to. But anyway, we also did some team building stuff. including a game called Shove-SweetTart-through-the-hole-at-the-very-top-of-the-evil-evil-spider-web-thingy. I kid you not. They were trying to see how many holes in the spider-web we could use to get everyone across. So being the smallest, I’m the one the guys picked up and passed through the top most hole. Twice, because someone touched the web, which is not allowed. Needless to say I learned trust. I was also thrown over a wall (I volunteered for that one) Was swung across a lava pit on a rope and had to be caught on the other side (luckily I wasn’t the only one) And had to somehow figure out how to balance on a swinging log while standing up and singing twinkle twinkle little star. (We managed that BTW) Did I mention the State Council is AWESOME!!!!! Not once was there a complaint about the challenge course. Not once was there someone unwilling to participate. Not once did someone refuse to step out of their comfort zone and take a risk (like being shoved through a spider web)

Now then, onto the night after all this. The State council plus a couple of random 4-hers who had arrived for State comp played a massive game of hide-n-seek (tag version) at the then dark 4-H center. It was awesome. And I discovered that breathing while squished in between Coke machine is very difficult. Then we started plotting an assassination, I mean kidnapping. Seriously. We decided it would be hilarious to kidnap the Prez of the Council and saran wrap him to a light pole. Then when it was down to 5 or 6 of us, we did kidnap him. One of the VP’s went and got him and they were going to walk down to the rec to get some power-ade. The rest of us hid in the woods and jumped him when they walked past. (We seriously almost double-crossed the VP though, except we decided it would be difficult seeing as none of us were actually big enough to take him. LOL) Unfortunately no one had plastic wrap. So we had to just carry the Prez up the hill and dump him under the light pole. LOL.

The next day we had State Comp, and I had the BEST speech comp EVER! The speeches were all AMAZING! And I was very pleased to get 4th. Oh, and proud of my dear brother, as he took 1st in Blocks Rock. GO INDY!

Much evilness. LOL. It was fun, Dad says he went read and the other guys were teasing him about the smell. LMHO. It was so evil.

The Chick Flick

April 24th, 2010

Ok, so I’m going to try a BookSnob-type post.

Drum Roll Please!

Last Night we watched a:

Chick

Flick

Jedi asked for it actually. Which was fine cause the two little boys hadn’t seen it even though I got it for Christmas last years. It, BTW was Another Cinderella Story.

Cheesy goodness.

LOL.

So anyways, Jedi then gets the following lecture from Indy.

“DUDE! You do NOT ask for the chick flick. You wait till it’s offered and then reluctantly agree. You can then enjoy it if you want, but you don’t ASK!”
